Melissa Rose, LPC-MHSP, NCC, CATP

Hi! I'm Melissa Rose, board certified, licensed professional counselor, published author, and owner of Wildflower Children's Counseling.

As an experienced child and family therapist, I am committed to helping families become happy, healthy, and whole. My areas of expertise includes child development, childhood mental health disorders, and evidence-based parenting. I am a Certified Child & Adolescent Trauma Professional and specialize in the treatment of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE's) and childhood trauma. The most common issues that I see include anxiety, depression, and ADHD.

My therapeutic approach is child-centered and holistic, while rooted in the family system. (Holistic meaning the mind and body are intimately connected and require one another to function properly.) My treatment style is eclectic and creative.

I utilize the following techniques: CBT, DBT, Play Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness, & TF-CBT/trauma-focused interventions. I am grounded in my faith as a Christian, although I genuinely value and respect all beliefs and spiritualities.

I was born and raised here in East Tennessee and graduated from Morristown East High School. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Tusculum College and a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Lincoln Memorial University. I am married to my favorite person and high school sweetheart Jeff, and we share 3 sweet daughters, Natalie, Addilyn, and our most recent addition, Abby Grace. When not providing therapy, I love spending time outdoors with my family. We are big Tennessee Vols fans and enjoy cheering on our football and basketball teams in the Fall & Spring.  I enjoy music and dancing, creative arts, and (the end result of) baking. :-)
