The Story Behind the Name: Wildflower Children's Counseling

A few years ago, I came across an article that I thought was incredibly profound. A Pediatric Psychiatrist in California was studying resiliency in children. He compared children with healthy resiliency to '"dandelions" and those who require just-right conditions and become easily overwhelmed by challenges as "orchids." This analogy has stuck with me ever since.

As a child therapist who specializes in trauma, I've seen my fair share of children in distress. Significant  factors such as social media, evolving societal norms, and the lingering effects of a global pandemic are pushing children beyond their cognitive and emotional capacity. I know that some kids are natural "overcomers" yet most children lack the skills necessary for effective coping.

To be honest, as a mom I am terrified for my own daughters.

The therapist in me, however leans heavily on my faith in God, my clinical training, and the insight of Dr. Boyce. Just like flowers, children are each unique in their needs and requirements to grow. WCC offers children a safe and supportive environment to cultivate emotional strength, help them build a healthy identity, and thrive as their best self.
